Thank you for your interest in the Fancy Feet Dance Teacher Assistant (TA) Program!
Our Teacher Assistant Program is designed for dedicated dancers who are ready to take the next step in their dance journey by becoming leaders, role models, and mentors for our youngest students.
Being a Teacher Assistant is a privilege and a commitment. Throughout the season, you'll gain valuable leadership experience, learn classroom management skills, work alongside our teaching staff, and develop the confidence needed to become a future instructor.
Whether your goal is to teach dance someday or simply grow as a leader, this program is an incredible opportunity.
Program Eligibility
To participate, dancers must:
- Be 8 years of age or older
- Be currently enrolled at Fancy Feet Dance
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Attend classes consistently
- Be dependable, responsible, and ready to lead by example
What You'll Learn
As a Teacher Assistant, you'll receive training in:
- Assisting teachers during dance classes
- Classroom management techniques
- Working with preschool and elementary-aged dancers
- Positive leadership and communication skills
- Encouraging and motivating young students
- Dance class organization and preparation
- Recital and performance support
- Professional expectations for dance educators
Throughout the season, you'll continue building confidence while gaining real classroom experience.

Season Commitment
Teacher Assistants are expected to commit to the entire dance season.
Once assignments are made, each TA will assist the same class each week from September through the annual June recital.
Responsibilities include:
- Arriving 10–15 minutes before class
- Helping prepare students before class begins
- Assisting the instructor throughout class
- Supporting recital rehearsals and performances
- Maintaining a positive and professional attitude
Monthly Leadership Meetings
Teacher Assistants will attend monthly leadership meetings throughout the season.
These meetings include:
- Leadership development
- Teaching techniques
- Classroom activities
- Team-building
- Professional growth
- Recital preparation
Meeting dates will be announced throughout the season.
Dress Code
When assisting classes, Teacher Assistants must wear:
- Official Fancy Feet Teacher Assistant shirt
- Black leggings, athletic pants, or shorts (appropriate length)
- Proper dance shoes for the class assigned
- Hair secured away from the face
- A positive attitude and professional behavior
